Eric Simons' climbs include seven expeditions to Mt. Everest (reaching the summit in 1991 via the North Ridge route) and notable ascents of Mt. Vinson (Antarctica), Peak Communism (Tajikistan), Mt. Elbrus (Russia), Aconcagua (Argentina), and Cho Oyu (Tibet.) Closer to home are 260 ascents of Mt. Rainier and 16 expeditions up Alaska's Mt. McKinley, now frequently called by its native name, Denali.
With partners, Eric owns and operates International Mountain Guides a prestigious mountaineering company conducting expeditions and treks worldwide. Eric also owns and operates Mt. Rainier Alpine Guides, providing mountaineer training, seminars, and guided Mt. Rainier summit climbs via the Emmons Glacier route. A professional guide since 1973, he has personally conducted more than 80 expeditions, more than two dozen to the Himalayas.
Eric Simonson serves on the Board of Directors of the American Mountain Guides Association and the American Foundation for International Mountaineering Exploration and Research.
